The Ruritan National mascot, Rudy Bear, was created in 1988. Since then, this program has put thousands of bears in the hands of kids who need a little something extra when the world crashes down on them. The bears are custom made to a Ruritan theme and local clubs nationwide provide them to emergency-care personnel free of charge for distribution to traumatized children.
Change For Rudy
Change For Rudy is a Pineview Ruritan program designed to help children get involved with giving. Children learn from a young age to give and be charitable. This program allows them to not only learn to enjoy giving, but to get the recognition that makes giving feel so honorable.
Change For Rudy is a donation collection of loose change that is used specifically to purchase and donate Rudy Bears to local emergency services. Donations of the smallest amounts add up and they all count, so even the youngest of volunteers can contribute in a big way. In return, we recognize them in a letter to the local facility that receives the Rudy Bears bought with their donations. The young donor also gets an original letter of recognition and thanks from our Pineview Ruritan President.
If our Change For Rudy volunteer would like to start a donation collection from their peers, neighbors and friends, we will award them with recognition for their efforts and an Honorable Mention listing in our Clubhouse and on our website during our awards and service announcements and programs throughout the year.
